"This is one of my own favorites. I have been fascinated with the awesome fearful dignity of many predators. I tried to explore these characteristics in this ceramic sculpture. The style of decoration is again influenced by B.C. Chinese bronzes. The clay turns this warm reddish color in firing and the dark stain is from manganese. The Hawk is about three feet tall and is too heavy for us to move into the Gallery."
