The ice cream cone is porcelain and was made by Karl.
Becky wrote for her 1981 showing at The Gallery in Bloomington:

"This idea came from some of the marvelous nature specials on television. There are pictures of prarie dogs standing in little groups, darting down a hole only to pop up again a few feet away. They are so funny and so winning. As I was building him Karl said 'Why not give him an ice cream cone? It must be hot out there in the sun with no trees.' And so we did."
