Breakfast plate by Karl Martz, 1954.
Used in the Martz household for many decades. The body was purchased as commercially produced bisque-fired white clay. Karl painted the design with underglaze pigments, and applied a transparent glaze.

Back says "A cheerful countenance upon arising is of great worth."
